Sample Confidentiality Statement

For many parents at the start of their journey, confidentiality is key. Read this statement, or something like it, at the start of every meeting.

Welcome to [Parents/Caregivers Support Group Name]:

Our meetings are open to all and are completely confidential. What is said here stays here. Confidentiality is important to us for one reason or another, and at all times we respect the rights of others. Participate in the way that makes you feel most comfortable whether that is on video, by phone, or only in the live-chat.

We are here because we have a common bond – an LGBTQ+ relative or friend. We welcome all – at whatever stage they are in their coming out journey. We realize that we cannot meet the needs of everyone at every meeting and every meeting is a bit different in its makeup because of the people, the concerns, and even current issues. We welcome all and hope you will return again. Each of us gains strength by your presence.
